Posted by Peak City Dentistry on Jan 20 2021, 10:10 AM

Do you have chipped or misaligned teeth? Do you have gaps that need to be filled, or do you wish to correct the structure of your teeth? A visit to the dental office can offer solutions to all your dentistry-related concerns such as these. CEREC is the latest technology used in our dental office that lets us create the perfect smile that would have you embrace an all-new look for the new year.

What Exactly is CEREC?

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics and is a modern method that helps plan dental reconstruction accurately and speedily. Traditionally, if a patient needed a crown, bridge, or denture, the dentist would take an impression of the mouth using a mold. The CAD/CAM (Computer-aided Design and Computer-aided) technology in CEREC, however, lets the dentist scan the mouth using equipment that transmits the digital impression onto computer software. The scan is then sent to the laboratory, where the dental restorations are prepared.

What can CEREC be Used For?

CEREC can be taken up to prepare digital impressions of the mouth when any of the following are required:

  • Dental crowns
  • Fixed Bridges
  • Dental Implants
  • Dentures
  • Veneers
  • Inlays and Onlays
  • Orthodontic Appliances

Advantages of CEREC

CEREC is the perfect solution during dental appointments due to the many advantages it has to offer, some of which are mentioned below:

  • Since the scan is registered by software, as opposed to a mold, all implant restorations thus prepared are highly accurate.
  • CEREC restorations are durable and match natural teeth better than traditionally prepared restorations.
  • Preparing and placing restorations typically takes about two visits to the dental office spanning over a period of nearly two weeks. CEREC cuts down the wait and gets the job done in a single appointment.
  • There is no need for temporary restorations as the permanent ones are prepared in under an hour.
  • This method fixes damage caused by accidents immediately and spares the embarrassment of having to head out with damaged teeth.
  • CEREC is a more comfortable procedure for the patient than using a mold that is messy, and that can induce a gag reflex.

If any or all of these advantages appeal to you, visit our dental office immediately so that we may suggest the best possible solutions for your dental concerns.
